Fare Thee Well
It is with a heavy heart that today I must announce the temporary suspension of Cocaine Corner. After the events of this week--which for various reasons I cannot detail in this forum--it has become clear to me that this endeavor simply cannot be continued for the time being. When I first started this site, I never imagined that it would receive the type of response that it has. But with the positive has too come the negative. And like many things in life, the negative has finally overtaken the positive.
In retrospect, it now seems completely idiotic to have documented, in writing, the types of things I've documented on this site, and for that, I'll always be sorry. What I am not sorry for, however, is the people who have supported me during my brief time as a blogger--those who read the site, those who emailed me with words of encouragement or to tell me how much they enjoyed my writing and stories, and even those who tried to get me to clean up my act. Who knows--those in the latter category may actually get their wish, although lets be honest--that's not bloody likely.
I knew from the beginning that this site couldn't last for very long. I just never thought that this was how it was going to end--or that it would end so quickly. Indeed, this ending seems a bit premature and even more anticlimactic given the events of this week (again, sorry about the lack of detail but I no longer wish to incriminate myself), but it was also inevitable. Unfortunately, I have a ton of material I wrote for the site that now has nowhere to go. If you are interested in getting any of it out there, email ewinter11@gmail.com and I'll have my people see what they can do to get it to you.
Notice that I refer to this as a "temporary" suspension, because it is my intention to start it up again when I have the opportunity to do so--which I'm guessing will be sometime in the next 3 to 6 months. Of course, any new incarnation of the site will necessarily be different than the first, but I hope that won't keep people from reading should it be brought back to life. And if it is, I will be sure that the word gets out.
Don't get the wrong idea here--my reasons for stopping the site are likely not what you think they are. In the end, my decision to close down the site was just that--my decision. It's just that certain pressures informed the inevitability of the decision.
I know now that things can never be the same, will never be the same, but hopefully what is past will simply be prologue to something bigger and better. Thanks for reading. All the best.

There is new life ahead. Take it and enjoy. For some of us, we still fight the thing that we know will ultimately end. I wish and hope I can before it goes much further. There are too many good things in life just to watch it pass by. 14 years of this madness (and that is just my case) and you wonder. Who am I anymore? You forget what life was like before you met the "stuff". It is almost like you want to try a new drug (your life before this mess) just to know what it feels like again. I miss it even though I can't remember sometimes. Is that longing or what? It has to be better than this. I don't mean to be so deep. I hope it works out for you Edgar. Take care

ok so if it is rehab....thats fine i did a 4 month stint myself it really does put you intouch...and when you come out and relapse...its a bit toned down. if its the orange jumps...i did a 3 month bit and you learn more hustles iniside then you ever thought of...word to tha wise...hit someone the first day...after that its cake..oh yeah hit the little dude...and i stilll say....gina is for losers...get with it and smoke crack! only on fridays with a bitch you love!

Wherever it is, I hope it does less damage to you than the unrestricted habit would. You're too smart and too talented not to get something out of whatever crap sandwich life has handed you. I just saw Edgar last night- calm down people, he's not arrested or in rehab. He just got a little freaked out about all the weird shit people were posting, let alone the psychotic e-mails he's been receiving on a daily basis.
It's a pretty sensitive subject, obviously, and kind of dangerous to have attached to one's computer since he actually maintains a real, normal, well-paying corporate job. So just calm down, stay tuned and he'll resurface.

What, you f*cking people didn't see this coming?? Read my comment from Ed's "Back Next Week" post. It begins: "Check THIS out" and questions the times of day in which Edgar usually posts. Edgar has taken advantage of all of us, just like he has with those closest to him, I would presume. He lured us in with tales of addiction, fantasy, debauchery, and consequence. Now, just when we start to give a shit, he skips town. He must be a writer for the f*cking 'Sopranos' or something, I swear. Writer's Rule #1 Eddie: NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON YOUR AUDIENCE. If you truly understand addiction Edgar, how do you expect your readers to cope now that you have gotten them (us) hooked?? Imagine if you will, your "guy" telling you he's found the error of his ways and decided to go "straight" by making trip-ticks for AAA? Bullsh*t right?
